Is there anything left that doesn’t have a national holiday?  I guess I shouldn’t complain since I love empandas or pasties, or samosas or hand pies or whatever you want to call them. Colombian empandas with the cornmeal dough and the spicy aji sauce are the absolute best, but I’m not biased.

Frida Kahlo's kitchen  →
This will definitely be my next cookbook purchase. Frida’s Fiestas: Recipes and Reminiscence of life with Frida Kahlo. In the chapter on Frida and Diego’s wedding, the author mentions Frida’s painting “Las Dos Fridas” which I’ve always liked but hasn’t really been my favorite of Kahlo’s works.  I came across the painting again today and in a flash...
